I'm New to Chaffee Crossing
Chaffee Crossing is an area like none other. Situated in the picturesque Arkansas River Valley along the state’s western border, the region is known for its beautiful scenery, rich history, and thriving developments.
Fort Chaffee History
In 1941, Camp Chaffee was established in Western Arkansas. The site, which would eventually be renamed Fort Chaffee, was comprised of 72,000 acres of predominantly farmland. It served as a POW camp in World War II and played important roles as a training center and refugee site in later years. In 1995, the BRAC Commission formally closed the base, and the federal government leased 65,000 acres to the Arkansas Army National Guard for training purposes. The remaining 7,000+ acres were gifted to local communities for redevelopment, leading to the formation of The Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority (FCRA) in 1997.
Chaffee Crossing Today
Chaffee Crossing has since transformed into one of the state’s premier residential and commercial districts. The area houses a wide-range of businesses, from locally-owned shops to international corporations. The Arkansas College of Health Education’s beautiful campus is located in the heart of Chaffee, as is the popular Janet Huckabee Nature Center. Eateries and entertainment venues also provide lots of options for residents and visitors. Nearby neighborhoods are filled with families, college and graduate school students, young professionals, and retirees, who all enjoy the charm of the area, as well as its proximity to modern amenities.

CCBC Future
While our physical church building is not currently in Chaffee Crossing, CCBC’s long-term plan is to locate there in the coming years. In June 2021, our church purchased property along one of the development’s main thoroughfares, Chad Colley Boulevard. Our plan is to build a permanent location on the site, as the Lord directs and resources allow. We look forward to the day of officially being located within Chaffee Crossing, but are grateful to be a part of the adjacent Barling community and to help minster to people throughout the area.
