Membership Matters

At CCBC, we believe that membership matters. Being a covenanted member of a local church is essential to growing in one’s faith and maturing in Christ. It is also vitally important to the church body, as we seek to encourage and serve one another in the Lord.

Membership Classes

Committing to join a local church body is an important decision and one that should only be made after much prayer, study, and consideration. CCBC routinely offers Membership Matters classes designed to help answer questions about our church and to give potential members a Biblical perspective on God’s design for church and the role of its members.

Topics include:

  • Why Does CCBC Exist?
  • Statement of Faith: Doctrine Matters
  • Church Covenant: Commitment Matters
  • Life Together: Leadership, Service, and Missions at CCBC
While attending the Membership Class is required to join CCBC, attending the class will not obligate you to join.

Membership Process

If you do sense that the Lord is leading you to join CCBC, you will first be asked to attend CCBC’s Membership Matters Classes.

Once an individual or family has attended the required classes, they will need to complete an application for membership and meet with Pastor Blake and/or one of our church elders. This will give our church leaders an opportunity to get to know you and your testimony. It also provides opportunity for discussion and questions.

All new members are voted upon by the church body at an official members’ meeting.

Qualifications for Membership

To qualify for membership in this church, a person must:

      1. Be a believer in Jesus Christ who gives evidence of regeneration;
      2. Have been baptized as a believer in obedience to Christ in connection with the preaching of the Biblical gospel by a gospel believing church; and
      3. Wholeheartedly believe in the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible.

Each member must agree to submit to the teaching of scripture as expressed in the Statement of Faith, by believing and teaching in accordance with the Statement of Faith and not contrary to it, holding the doctrines of our church with a clear conscience before God and man.

Membership Expectations

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.
1 Timothy 3:14-15
As church members in covenant to one another, we are responsible to serve, care, and build up one another for the glory of God. (Acts 2:42-47) Scripture uses metaphors of a building (1 Cor. 3:9), a temple (Eph. 2:19-22), a body (1 Cor. 12), a flock (Acts 20:28), and a family (Gal. 6:10; 1 Tim. 3:15) to help us understand the corporate nature of our faith together as believers. As you consider committing yourself to the life of this local church, please keep in mind the following priorities:
  • Be constant in your attendance both on Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings.
  • Pray for our church daily.
  • Give proportionally and cheerfully.
  • Make it a priority of being present and prepared to partake of the Lord’s Supper with us each month.
  • Do your best to be present for our Members Meetings that take place six times a year.
  • Serve the members of the church.
