What We Believe

We believe in the Triune God, the originator of all things, and that He gave us the scriptures as our perfect guide. Humanity was created to worship God, but has sinned against Him and so justly deserves His punishment. However, God demonstrated His love for humanity in freely offering us salvation, which is rooted in God’s grace and made possible through the perfect life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. Salvation includes the simultaneous gifts of regeneration and justification that are linked necessarily to the response of repentance and faith.

God’s work of salvation continues on in the believer’s sanctification and ensures the perseverance of believers to the end. Believers are united in the Church, which is made visible in local bodies of believers that faithfully preach God’s Word and administer the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. As Christians, we recognize God’s design in the family and our responsibility to the civil government. Our final hope looks toward the world to come which we pray will arrive soon.

Worship

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:16-17
Biblical truth drives our corporate worship through the songs we sing at CCBC. (Psalm 119:7; John 4:23-24; Revelation 4:8-11; 5:8-14) The goal in our corporate worship is to bring God glory and to see Christ’s church built up and strengthened. (1 Corinthians 14:12, 26; Ephesians 5:18-21)

The CCBC music team leads our congregation in songs rich in theology. These include a range of hymns dating back to the 1400s, as well as worship songs written in our lifetime. Our leaders are deliberate in choosing music that centers on Scriptural truths and helps prepare believers’ hearts to receive God’s Word. Sunday mornings generally consist of five or six congregational songs led by a three or four-person music team, accompanied by piano and guitar.

Song selections for the upcoming Sunday are shared with members in the week prior to service. We encourage individuals to meditate on God’s Word and the gospel truths contained within the songs, so that their hearts will overflow with truth and thankfulness back to Him. A compilation of songs used in CCBC worship service is available anytime through our online playlist.

Blake Boylston, Lead Pastor, Chaffee Crossing Baptist Church

Blake Boylston

Lead Pastor
Blake spent most of his early life in Savannah, Georgia where he was blessed to be raised in a family that regularly attended a gospel-preaching church. It was at age 13 at an evangelistic meeting that he believed the gospel and began to follow Jesus Christ. When he was 21, Blake began working with his father in the commercial cleaning industry.

In God’s providence, Blake met Julie on vacation in the Bahamas in 2007. They were married 11 months later. While still working in the cleaning business, Blake began his pastoral ministry as a bi-vocational pastor at Quacco Baptist Church in Savannah, where he served from 2012 to 2014. During that time, Blake attended a 9Marks Weekender conference in Washington, D.C. where he met Pastor Mark Dever. Blake returned three years later to participate in the Pastoral Internship program at Capitol Hill Baptist Church. Upon completion of his internship, he joined the staff as an Assistant Pastor for four years.

The Boylstons then answered the Lord’s call to pastor in the Arkansas River Valley. They moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas in December 2019. Blake led a group of believers to establish a new gospel-preaching local church in the Barling and Fort Smith communities. Chaffee Crossing Baptist Church (CCBC) formally covenanted in September 2020. When he's not pastoring CCBC, Blake spends time with his wife and their three children, Noah, Avery, and Titus. Jantzen Lester

Pastoral Assistant
Jantzen grew up in the Arkansas River Valley. He spent most of his youth living outside of the city, enjoying the beauty of the countryside. Jantzen experienced God’s grace by growing up in a Christian household that regularly attended church and where he heard the gospel from a young age. At age eight, Jantzen began experiencing true conviction, and the Lord mercifully granted him repentance and gave him new life. When he was 16, the Lord began to stir in Jantzen a desire to preach. He began preaching at age 17 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from the College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Texas Baptist College) in Fort Worth.

During college, Jantzen met his wife, Casey. The couple were wed in May 2015. The Lord has blessed them with two young children, Silas and Riley. Jantzen returned to the region with his family in August 2018, and began pastoring at Trinity Baptist Church. He and Casey became members of Chaffee Crossing Baptist Church in January 2021 and Jantzen entered the pastoral internship program. He transitioned to his current role of CCBC Pastoral Assistant in the summer of 2021. Since then, God's grace has continued to work in his life, as he has seen continual spiritual growth, and has experienced the good fruits of ongoing repentance and a heart that loves the Lord. Michael and Amber joined CCBC in November of 2021. Michael works as an anesthetist in the labor and delivery department at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He and Amber have a small farm in Barling. They enjoy working on it and marveling at the wonderous systems the Lord has created. Michael also enjoys spending time outdoors, kayaking, and hiking.

Jeff Hannan - Deacon of Facility Cleaning

Jeff Hannan

Deacon of Facility Cleaning
Jeff grew up in Irving, Texas. He trusted in Jesus as his Savior at age seven, often riding the bus to attend a local church. Lacking discipleship throughout his youth, it wasn’t until college and early adulthood that Jeff’s faith began to truly mature. He attended school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was fortunate to have Christian roommates who helped him see how believers should live and the joy that can come from walking with the Lord.

In 1994, Jeff moved to Fort Smith and through his involvement with a local Baptist church, he began to better understand the true cost of his sin against a Holy God and the amazing power and value of forgiveness through Christ. Jeff is married to Susan and together the couple has five children and two grandchildren. The couple lives in Fort Smith, where Jeff serves as a Senior Business Solutions Analyst at ArcBest.

The Hannans were founding members of CCBC. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and tinkering with projects around the house.

History

In 2020, the Lord brought together a body of His believers, who desired to plant a new gospel-preaching church in the Chaffee Crossing area. The group spent two months meeting and getting to know one another better at the home of Lead Pastor Blake Boylston and his wife Julie. Over the summer of 2020, families gathered for a total of eight Core Team meetings. These gatherings included worshipping together in song and studying many of the same topics now taught in our membership classes, such as the importance of belonging to a local church, our statement of faith, Biblical church leadership, and more.

Chaffee Crossing Baptist Church officially covenanted on September 20, 2020 with 90 charter members and their families.

CCBC currently meets for Sunday service and Wednesday Equipping Classes at 813 Fort Street in Barling, Arkansas. (the former ERC building complex)

Future Plans

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1
As evident by our name, CCBC’s long-term goal has always been to establish our presence in the Chaffee Crossing community of Fort Smith. Through the Lord’s faithful provision, CCBC was able to purchase property outright for a future building site on Chad Colley Boulevard in June 2021.

Our church seeks to be a good steward of all that the Lord has entrusted to us. We continue to seek first the kingdom of God one day at a time, trusting He will provide what we need, when we need it. We encourage our members and the community to pray for the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of CCBC as we serve the Chaffee Crossing community and beyond.
Matthew 6:33-34
